Jesus' ride into Jerusalem on the back of a colt was met with triumphant celebration; a joyous welcoming. There was a tremendous expectation among the Jewish population that Jesus was a new leader who was going to save them form the oppression of the Romans, into the freedom that was their birthright. Jesus mission, however, was for a different kind of salvation, and a far more glorious freedom. It is this salvation and freedom that we, as Jesus followers, can triumphantly celebrate at the beginning of Holy Week.
