Psalm 16:8-10
I am always aware of the Lord's presence; he is near, and nothing can shake me.  And so I am thankful and glad, and I feel completely secure, because you protect me from the power of death.

My Pastor recently shared a precious story about when his little boy struggled with a terrible fear of the dark. His “little boy” is now a grown man, who stands 6 feet 6 inches tall and fears nothing, but when he was a toddler, he wasn’t so confident.

One night at bedtime, shortly after they completed their bedtime routine, the father sat in the family room, and he heard his little boy call out, pleading for his father to come sit with him because he was afraid of the dark.  The loving father and pastor came to him and said, “Son, I will put your night light on so you can see that there is nothing to be afraid of and I will be just around the corner in the other room!”  After a few moments of silence, the little boy replied softly, “Dad, I would rather be in the dark, but know that you’re here in the room with me, than be in the light, all by myself.”

There is so much power in knowing we are not alone. You are not alone. Let that wash over you. You are not alone.  In brightest day or darkest night, the Lord is with you and nothing can shake you. You can be completely secure because He is standing guard over you, He is fighting for you, even when you cannot see Him.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. (Psalm 23:1-4)

If you are feeling scared today, remember, your Father is sitting with you and He never leaves. He is standing watch, all through the night. You can sleep well and rest, always assured that you are never alone.

Music, Moods, and Miracles

Music is spiritual. It has the power to help us remember, influence atmospheres, alter behavior, and open our spirits to a realm beyond what we can see. At its best, music is a vehicle that takes us to the feet of Jesus.
