Sometimes we can get a little too good at making worship cocktails. We get used to adding so-called essentials like justice, intimacy, abandonment, warfare, to our sung worship that we reach a point where we simply need to detach. Trouble is, detaching is a seriously frightening business...  

 

This is not a call to confuse the congregation or become some kind of musical anarchist. This is about you alone and in private or with your team, giving space to worship without the safety belts on. Because sometimes, just sometimes, detaching from the way we've always done it is the very best thing we can do. 

What would it look like for you to unplug? What would it mean to worship without the expectation of what comes next, without following the formula that your subconscious knows so well? What would it look like to detach, to risk it all and give in to God's gravity?

What would it look like to let yourself get truly overwhelmed by the power and potential of Psalms 63:3-4: 

'The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork'
